Your journey begins with a drive from Amritsar to Haridwar, which takes around 10–12 hours. You can hire a private taxi or rent a tempo traveller depending on your group size, as both options are easily available for long-distance tours. After reaching Haridwar, attend the evening Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri and enjoy a peaceful overnight stay.
On the second day, you travel to Barkot, which marks the start of your hill journey. This 7–8 hour drive is best done with an experienced hill driver, so it is advisable to continue your trip with a well-equipped taxi or tempo traveller suitable for mountain roads. Enjoy scenic views along the way and stay overnight in Barkot.
Drive to Janki Chatti in your taxi or tempo traveller, from where the 5–6 km trek to Yamunotri begins. You can either walk or hire ponies or palkis for convenience. After darshan at Yamunotri Temple, return to Barkot for an overnight stay while your vehicle remains available at the base point.
Today you drive to Uttarkashi, a journey of around 4–5 hours through beautiful valleys. Upon arrival, visit Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Taxis and tempo travellers are easily available here as well, making it a convenient stop for Char Dham travelers. Overnight stay in Uttarkashi.
Travel by road to Gangotri Temple, which is about 100 km away. This route requires careful driving, so a skilled driver with a reliable taxi or tempo traveller is essential. After darshan, return to Uttarkashi and stay overnight.
This is a longer drive of about 8–9 hours, taking you through scenic mountain routes. A tempo traveller is often the most comfortable option for groups on such long journeys, while taxis are suitable for smaller groups. You will stay overnight in Guptkashi or Sitapur.
Drive to Sonprayag and then proceed to Gaurikund. From here, begin your 16–18 km trek to Kedarnath Temple. If you prefer, you can hire ponies, palkis, or even opt for helicopter services. Overnight stay will be in Kedarnath.
After morning darshan, trek down to Gaurikund and return to Guptkashi. Your pre-booked taxi or tempo traveller will be available to pick you up and continue the journey comfortably. Overnight stay in Guptkashi.
Drive towards Badrinath, which takes around 7–8 hours and passes through the beautiful Panch Prayag confluences. Upon arrival, visit Badrinath Temple. Overnight stay in Badrinath.
Start your day with morning darshan at Badrinath Temple, followed by a visit to Mana Village, the last village near the Indo-Tibetan border. Local sightseeing can be easily done using your hired taxi or tempo traveller. Overnight stay in Badrinath or Joshimath.
Begin your return journey towards Rishikesh, which takes around 9–10 hours. The route is scenic and comfortable, and both taxis and tempo travellers are widely used for this stretch. Overnight stay in Rishikesh.
On the final day, travel back to Amritsar, completing your Char Dham Yatra. You can continue with the same rented taxi or tempo traveller or arrange a new one based on your preference, as both options are easily available for pilgrims.
