Start your journey early in the morning from Amritsar. You can hire a private taxi or a tempo traveller for the road journey if traveling in a group. The distance from Amritsar to Katra is around 330 km and takes approximately 8–9 hours by road. The tempo traveller is ideal for groups of 6–12 people, providing comfort and space for luggage, while taxis are better for small groups or families. On arrival in Katra, check into your hotel, rest, and in the evening explore the local market. You can also visit Ardhkuwari Temple and Banganga Temple, which are easily accessible by taxi or a short walk.

After an early breakfast, hire a taxi or tempo traveller to take you to the Vaishno Devi Bhawan base. From here, the trek to the shrine begins. The trek is about 13 km one way and usually takes 5–7 hours depending on your pace. Options such as palkis or battery-operated vehicles are available for senior citizens and those who prefer less walking. After offering prayers at the shrine, descend back to Katra. You can hire the taxi or tempo traveller you used in the morning to take you back comfortably. Overnight stay will be in Katra.

After breakfast, you can explore nearby attractions if time permits, such as Sanctuary Hills or Shrikhand Mahadev, which can be easily reached by hiring a taxi or tempo traveller from Katra. These vehicles are ideal for groups and provide hassle-free transportation along hilly roads. Later in the day, start your journey back to Amritsar by road. On arrival, check into your hotel or conclude your journey at your preferred destination.
